Cocktail Benefit at Eden Hall

On April 30th, 2019, the official residence of British High Commissioner to Singapore, Eden Hall, was filled with distinguished guests and para-athletes who attended the Cocktail Benefit. Organised by Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC), the event served as a gathering to recognise the active role SNPC plays in the local community, transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities. The fundraiser was a kick-off to our year-long fundraising initiative towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The reception was co-hosted by the British High Commissioner, His Excellency Scott Wightman, who warmly welcomed the guests to the mansion. The Honourable Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon graced the occasion by addressing the foundation of the Paralympic Movement – a vision of a more inclusive world built on the values of respect and equal opportunity. On that note, he shared inspiring and heartfelt stories of para-athletes redefining the boundaries of the possible.

“… (the) para-athletes show us that the human spirit is greater than that; that it is capable of raising us above the odds and giving us the strength to do truly extraordinary things. That is the very essence of the Paralympic Movement.” ~ Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon

The Chief Operating Officer, BP Supply and Trading, Eastern Hemisphere, Mr Eugene Leong, also spoke about BP’s support in inclusiveness and the synergy in the BP-SNPC partnership. The partnership has led to ambassadorships with para-athletes Nur Syahidah Alim and Toh Wei Soong as well as successful runs of CEO Dialogues[1] since 2017.

The soulful sounds of jazz and flute music filled the rooms of the Edwardian architectural masterpiece as the guests mingled with the Guest-of-Honour, co-host, speakers and para-athletes. The evening programme included a pledging drive and a successful silent auction of limited-edition scotch and whisky appreciation sessions.

Thank you to the donors and guests who attended the reception. We also wish to extend special thanks to the British High Commissioner for hosting the event as well as our gold sponsors for the event:
