The 6th ASEAN Para Games 2011 was officially closed yesterday with a grand closing ceremony that was somewhat disrupted by heavy downpour of rain.
Despite the torrential rain, our Team Singapore was in high spirits and enjoyed the closing ceremony nevertheless. The closing ceremony was somewhat unique, instead of marching in with the country flag, all athletes and officials marched in contingents of their respective sports. This provided all athletes and officials to mingle with each other in their sports.
The Singapore contingent will return home tomorrow, with 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 bronzes to their names.
The main bulk of the medals came from the swimming team, who garnered 6 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 bronze medals. The Bowling team also did well, with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 bronze. Badminton also did well, with 1 gold in the singles, and the doubles pair earning a silver medal as well. The medal tally was completed with athletics that had 2 bronzes.
Come and receive the team, tomorrow at 1300hrs onwards when they return from the Games.
The contingent returns on MI 111 @ Terminal 2 on the 22nd December 2011.
