The 5th Asian Youth Para Games 2025, held in Dubai from 7-14 December 2025, concluded on a high note for Team Singapore, marking a meaningful chapter in the development of the nation’s next generation of Paralympic athletes.
The contingent returned home with an impressive haul of 12 medals — 2 Gold, 6 Silver, and 4 Bronze — across Para athletics, boccia, Para badminton and Para Swimming, reflecting Singapore’s growing depth in youth para sport despite fielding a comparatively smaller team. Singapore finished sixth among Southeast Asian nations in the overall medal standings.
The Singapore contingent was led by Chef de Mission (CDM) Ms Apple Yap Qian Yin, whose steady leadership and athlete-centred approach were instrumental throughout the Games. Reflecting on the team’s journey, Ms Yap shared, “These Games were about more than medals — they were about growth, resilience, and learning to compete on the Asian stage. Our young athletes showed tremendous heart and adaptability, and I am proud of how they supported one another while representing Singapore with pride.”
For these athletes, the Games marked their first major multi-sport international competition. Against this backdrop, Team Singapore’s overall achievements were particularly commendable. As Team Singapore builds on the momentum from Dubai, the focus now turns to continued athlete development and regional collaboration, with Cambodia set to host the next Asian Youth Para Games in 2029.
