The Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC) is pleased to announce that two more para athletes have qualified and are selected to represent Singapore at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Mr Suhairi Bin Suhani, Athletics athlete, will represent Singapore in the Long Jump event at Rio. Mr Suhairi won the Long Jump silver medal at the 8th ASEAN Para Games.

For the first time, Singapore has qualified for the sport of Archery at a Paralympic Games. Athlete Ms Nur Syahidah Binte Alim, Gold medalist in the in Women Compound Open at the 8th ASEAN Para Games, has qualified and is selected by the SNPC for Rio.

Ms Nur Syahidah Binte Alim said “I’m truly ecstatic that I have been selected to represent Singapore for such a prestigious game like the Paralympics. Though I am new to the competition scene for Archery, I will do my best at the games. Please continue to support me as one Team Singapore”

Singapore will now be represented in 6 sports at the Rio Paralympic Games, a record for Singapore. The 6 sports are Archery, Athletics, Boccia, Equestrian, Sailing and Swimming.
