After 11 incredible days, the London 2012 Paralympic Games has official ended. Over ten days, the world watched, cheered and was transfixed at the marvels of the human spirit. Indeed London left an indelible mark that would inspire the next generation.

Team Singapore was represented by 8 athletes, who competed in four sports. The final medal tally for Singapore is 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. The two medals were both won by Laurentia Tan for equestrian.

Boccia:

Nurulasyiqah took part in her first Paralympics and did her best and was ranked 7th overall in the Individual Mixed BC3 category.

Sailing

Our pair of sailors, Jovin and Desiree finished 7th with an overall score of 74 points.

Swimming

In swimming, Yip Pin Xiu finished in 4th when she swam    in the Women’s 50m freestyle S3 event.

We can be proud of all our athlete’s achievements in the long journey towards the London Paralympics, overcoming the odds along their way and showing all of us what is possible.

As the curtain comes down in London, preparations are already afoot to welcome the world to the next Paralympic Games in 4 years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
