London 2012

The London 2012 Paralympic Games known as the “greatest Paralympic Games ever” where the game had met all expectations, breaking records for ticket sales and heightening the profile of the Paralympic in relation to the Olympic was held in London, United Kingdom from 29 August to 9 September 2012.

Singapore sent a contingent of 29 athletes and officials (8 athletes, 16 officials and 5 secretariats) led by Chef-de-Mission Mr. Frankie Thanapal Sinniah. Ms Theresa Goh (Swimming) was once again selected as the flag bearer for the games. Singapore competed in 4 out of 20 sports and they were Boccia, Equestrian, Sailing and Swimming.

This Paralympic Games has marked another historical milestone for our young nation as it was the first time Singapore qualified to compete with other world’s best in the sport of Boccia. Equestrienne Ms Laurentia Tan outperformed her previous performance at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games by winning a silver medal at the Individual Freestyle Test Grade 1A and a bronze medal at the Individual Championship Test Grade 1A.
