Athlete’s Achievement Award

The Athlete's Achievement Award (AAA)

The Athlete's Achievement Award (AAA) is given out by the Singapore National Paralympic Council to outstanding atheletes who have excelled in major international games. It is given out in recognition of the huge commiment, discipline and passion to training and competing at the highest level – the desire to go that extra distance beyond self.

The Tote Board/Singapore Pools (Pte) Ltd is the primary sponsor of the AAA which provides for a cash payout to atheletes who contribute to Singapore's gold, silver or bronze medal tally in the following games- the Paralympics Games, Asian Para Games, Commonwealth Games and the ASEAN Para Games (except for the ASEAN Para Games, where the athlete must have won a gold medal). The awards only apply to individual sporting events and not to team events.

The value of the awards varies with respective Games, with the Paralympic Games providing significantly higher payouts. There are ceilings on the awards. Athletes will be entitled to awards up to a maximum of three individual gold medals won at the ASEAN Para Games, up to two individual gold medals won at the Commonwealth and Asian Games, and the first gold medal won at the Olympic Games. All awards are presented to the winning athlete, not the national sports association, and are taxable.

The incentive is only applicable to sports with official records. And athletes who receive the AAA has to plough back 20% to SNPC for their future training and development.
